Grease Interceptor Cleaning
A gravity grease interceptor is a large in-ground tank, often in a parking lot or service yard, that serves a full restaurant, a food court or an institutional kitchen. Capacities commonly run from several hundred to a few thousand gallons, so cleaning one takes more time, equipment and care than an under-sink unit.

With the tank drawn down, the crew scrapes hardened grease off the walls and baffles, breaks up compacted sludge on the floor and clears the inlet and outlet tees. The sample box and access risers are cleaned as well, so an inspector can open them without trouble.
Because these tanks are buried, the crew also looks for cracked concrete, corroded baffle walls and outlet pipes that have shifted, any of which can let grease bypass the tank.
- Scrape walls and baffle walls
- Break up and remove floor sludge
- Clear tees, sample box and risers
- Record cracks, corrosion and missing parts

Call (424) 573-8021Why full cleaning protects the tank
Decaying food solids give off hydrogen sulfide, which eats into concrete and metal fittings. A tank that is only partly emptied keeps producing it. Cleaning to the floor on a regular cycle slows that damage, cuts odors around patios and drive aisles, and keeps discharge within local limits.

Call (424) 573-8021Working safely around heavy lids
Interceptor covers are heavy and often sit in traffic lanes. Crews set cones, use lid lifters and never enter the tank without confined-space procedures. Overnight or pre-opening service keeps the work clear of customers and delivery trucks.
Unsure how big your interceptor is? A technician can talk it through.
